Daggerfall: An Enthusiast's Guide - Introduction
What is Daggerfall?
Daggerfall is a CRPG produced by Bethesda Softworks. It is probably one of the best, if not the best, RPG ever produced for the computer so far. The game world is huge, and although there is a main story line to be followed it is perfectly possible to play the game for months or even years of Real Time and never have to go anywhere near it! You get to roll up a completely customisable character, and once you get out of the starter dungeon, what you do with that character is entirely up to you. The role playing aspects are virtually limitless. Characters can quest for treasure, create their own magic spells and items, buy ships and houses, join guilds and travel the world of Tamriel chatting up the nobility or peasantry as the whim takes them.
Why this site?
As an old(!) AD&D player used to playing round table-tops with dice, pen and paper I find that I play Daggerfall in much the same way and as a result have acquired large sheafs of notes on the game and my various characters. Due to a recent surge of activity in the Daggerfall newsgroup all aimed at getting common information out where people can find it, I finally became motivated enough to try to gather together my own notes and post them up in the hopes that some people would find them useful in their own Daggerfall lives.
The information listed here has been acquired from a variety of sources in the year or so that I have been playing the game. Some of it I found out the hard way, some I stumbled across on other excellent information sources on the web and some of it was passed to me when I pleaded for help on the Daggerfall newsgroup! As a result, what's here is really the work of a large number of people, some of whom I know, some I don't, but credit where I can reliably apply it is listed here. All I'm really doing is trying to put it together in a reasonably useful reference format.
So, go back to the index and see if you can find something useful. If one or two of you can, then it will all have been worth it! Happy Daggerfalling!
